Adoptions: This is the very heart of what we do. Transferring animals from municipal shelter partners saves lives, and finding homes for animals changes lives – that’s our mission, in a nutshell. Our rescue and shelter efforts will always include spay/neuter as needed for every adopted animal, as well as a microchip and any necessary vet medical care. After that, it’s all about finding permanent homes in a timely fashion, and your support makes it happen!
Community Service: Serving the community is an important part of our mission, as well. As part of New Jersey’s “Work First” initiative in support of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), AAC is proud to participate in the state’s Community Worker Experience Program (CWEP). CWEP offers participants employment, training, and experience that provides improved opportunities and changes lives. CWEP placements are directed towards organizations and agencies directly involved in useful public service areas, and ours are hardworking, diligent, and caring.
Humane Education: Our program helps children to better understand and care for the companion animals in their lives. Operated by AAC volunteers, this program fosters competence, compassion, and respect by:
- teaching the basics of safe animal handling
- increasing understanding of animals and their needs
- strengthening the connection between pets and their keepers
- outlining the importance of animal welfare issues in our society
- exploring the joy and satisfaction of keeping a pet
Our in-school program is presented by volunteers, and can be hosted in a classroom. auditorium, or living room. The focus of the program can be tailored to meet your needs. If possible, we’ll be sure to bring an animal guest or two!
Our programs are how we deliver our mission. Saving lives and supporting the community remain our primary goals. Thank you for your support!
